WACMM-U Guidelines

  • Courses are offered to pastors and men’s leaders throughout the Washington, D.C. region (D.C Metro, Northern Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware)

  • Courses take place on weekday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 or Saturdays from 9:00 to noon

  • Books and materials are included in registration price

  • Certification available

  • Online advanced registration only ($39 individual, $35/each for a group of 3 or more) - SEE BELOW

  • Discount available for those registering in advance for all 8 courses

  • Individual church consulting available

Course Descriptions, Locations and Dates

OCTOBER (for dates and locations see below)

Resource Workshop – Introducing resources to use with men
This course describes several men’s curricula and programs that are reaching men in churches across America and beyond. Time will be spent explaining how to begin each resource in your church including Men’s Fraternity, Top Gun, Operation Timothy, New Commandment, and others. The goal is to be able to choose the best men’s resources for your church.

NOVEMBER (for dates and locations see below)

Reaching Every Man - introduction to the NMLB Model
This course describes a model that has been used effectively by hundreds of churches to build a sustainable men’s disciple making ministry. Based on the books, No Man Left Behind and Pastoring Men. The goal is to be more intentional about reaching all men in your church.

DECEMBER (for dates and locations see below)

Male Context – Making sure that your church is attracting men
This course identifies several key principles related to masculinity and how it affects your church. Using some of the content from the book Why Men Hate Going to Church, it goes on to cover some of the common mistakes and offers solutions that will make your church attractive to men. The goal is to help your church to close its gender gap.

JANUARY (for dates and locations see below)

Building Men’s Small Groups – Understanding men’s small group discipleship
This course, based on the book Brothers, describes how you can help your men’s small groups grow from a few acquaintances to true brothers. It identifies some of the common mistakes that stall men’s small groups and offers solutions that turn men loose to true Christian brotherhood. The goal is to help to multiply healthy men’s small groups in your church.

FEBRUARY (for dates and locations see below)

Mentoring Men – One-to-one discipleship
Mentoring is forming a relationship with another individual for the purpose of mutual growth in Christian understanding, obedience, and service of others. This course, based on the book Connecting, helps you to understand the dynamics involved in developing an effective personal or one-to-one ministry for the men in your church. The goal is to choose a mentoring model to implement in your church.

Servant Leadership – A must for men’s leadership
This course helps you to define servant leadership and identify key principles for modeling servant leadership in your church. The way to have a truly effective men’s disciple making ministry in your church is to serve the needs of your men. The goal is to help you to model it with your men. 

APRIL (for dates and locations see below)

High Impact Teams – Doing the work of ministry with others
This course, based on a portion of Steve Sonderman’s How to Build a Life-Changing Men’s Ministry, will help you to appreciate the value of working as a team, recruiting men to your team, and building your team. The goal is to strengthen your church’s leadership through developing a strong teams.

MAY (for dates and locations see below)

Focusing Men’s Ministry – Aligning all of your men’s ministry activities
This course will help you to make sense of how all of your men’s discipleship activities fit together. Based on the book Focusing, several key principles will lead you to understand you men and your ministry. The goal is to develop your church’s unique men’s discipleship plan.
